We’re the project division of SSI specializing in satellites and related technologies. We are motivated by a desire to democratize the space industry and make space hardware available to all and the novel launch opportunities that rideshare presents for university students.
SSI’s current satellite is called SAMWISE. It was made for two purposes:
(1) Demonstrate new technologies – We want to demo new designs like a deployable solar array, a star-tracker, improved attitude control, and S-band communication.
(2) Take photos – SAMWISE is fitted with two cameras, one Earth-facing and one ‘selfie’ to take pictures from space and send them back down to Earth.
